Travers to host Roundtable sessions
TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College President, Dr. Lesley Travers, has announced the first Community Roundtable, set for 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in the CTEC conference room.
Interested parties are invited to attend. Dr. Travers will provide any information of interest about the college, will answer any questions and address any concerns.
This is the first in a scheduled, monthly series of discussion sessions. Attendees are invited to bring their own brown bag lunch if they
would like.

Black and Gold Night
TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College athletics will host its annual Black and Gold Night, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in the Petsch Center gymnasium on campus.
The public is invited for an evening of food, contests, games, giveaways and a chance to meet the Lancer and Lady Lancer basketball teams. It is the first practice for both basketball squads.
The event is free and open to the public.
Rummage sale set
TORRINGTON – The Friendship Senior Center in Torrington will host its annual fall rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the center, located at 1833 East A Street in Torrington. Lunch will be available along with a variety of gently used items for sale.
Basic Self-Defense for Women class
TORRINGTON – The Community Education Department at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington will host a Basic Self-Defense class for Women next month.
This class will be from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12. Cost for the training will be $20.
This class is designed to increase personal awareness of surroundings, reducing the chance of walking unawares into compromising situations at home, in a parking lot or while exercising. Basic defensive techniques will be demonstrated with opportunities to practice.
For individuals who’ve taken this or similar classes in the past, this provides an opportunity to either refresh or hone existing skills.

Riverside hosts Halloween events
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – Riverside Zoo and Discovery Center is hosting a pair of “spook-tacular” events through the month of October.
It’s two floors of terror with the third annual Night at the Haunted Museum at the Riverside Discovery Center. The thrills run from 7 to 10 p.m. nightly, Oct. 6-7, Oct. 13-14 and Oct. 27-31.
Admission is $10 per person and concessions and t-shirts will be available on site. Haunted Museum t-shirts will also be available at the Zoo gift shop, earning $1 off the Haunted Museum admission. The Haunted Museum is ADA accessible at half price.
Also on deck is the 29th annual Spooktacular, this year bigger and better than ever. The family-friendly event runs 6:30 to 8 p.m. nightly, Oct. 20-25, and admission is $7 per person.

Homeless Collaborative to host conference
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Homeless Collaborative will host the 2017 “Time to Heal” Conference on Homelessness, Oct. 3 and 4, at the Radisson Hotel, 204 West Fox Farm
in Cheyenne.
Breakout session topics will include substance abuse and recovery, homeless youth, law enforcement/department of corrections, rural homelessness, homeless with pets, housing vouchers, ESG/Coordinated entry and healthcare.
Guest speakers will include Gov. Matt Mead and former University of Wyoming football standout and professional athlete, Derrick Martin.

Something for everyone
TORRINGTON – First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church in Torrington will host its fall rummage sale, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13 – 14, at the church, located at 2972 Main Street.
Hours are 8 a.m. to noon on Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. The event is hosted by the Presbyterian Women group at the church.
