Pony Express Valentine Ride

GOSHEN COUNTY – The Southeast Wyoming Pony Express chapter will once again host its annual Valentine Ride. 

Valentine cards or letters must be deposited in special collections boxes, located at any Goshen or Platte County post office, by the morning of Friday, Feb. 2. The boxes will be collected at noon on that day.

Collection boxes are also available in the gift shop at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. and the Cyclone Express Shell Station in Gering, Neb.

All items must have proper U.S. postage to be included.

All cards and letters will receive a special stamp, stating they were “Carried Horseback by the Pony Express.” On Saturday, Feb. 3, Pony Express riders will gather and carry their parcels from Guernsey to Hartville.

Vet Tech club hosting dog wash

TORRINGTON – The Eastern Wyoming College Veterinary Technology Club will be holding a dog wash on Saturday, Jan. 27. Appointments will begin at 8 a.m. and walk-ins will be taken until 10:30 a.m. The dog wash will conclude at 1:30 p.m. The student technicians will do minimal brushing and do not shave out mats. A current rabies certificate is required to participate.

EWC host financial 

health workshop

TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College here will host a nine-week workshop designed to assist families striving for financial health.

Originally scheduled to start Jan. 10, due to personal issues with the instructor, the workshop – Financial Peace University – has been postponed, said Donna White, associate director for workforce development and community education for the college. The course is now set for 6 p.m. Feb. 21 in CTEC Room 133 on the campus in Torrington.

Right to Life Breakfast set

TORRINGTON – The St. Rose Parish Knights of Columbus in Torrington will host its annual Soufflé breakfast to support Goshen County Right to Life.

The breakfast will be held in the St. Rose Parish Social Hall, 605 E 22nd Ave., in Torrington, from 8 a.m. till noon, Sunday, Jan. 28. Tickets will be available at the door, or by calling (307) 532-4594.

Goshen County Right to Life meets at 7 p.m., every third Monday, in the Brand Room at the Goshen County Fairgrounds.

First-grade musical

TORRINGTON – The first-grade students of Lincoln Elementary invite you to the musical “The Bear Went Over the Mountain” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, at the Torrington High School auditorium. Join “Da Bear” and lots of forest critters as they learn that life is often more about the journey than the destination.

Soup supper, auction set

TORRINGTON – Valley Christian School in Torrington will host its annual Soup Supper and Auction fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Rendezvous Center at the Goshen County Fairgrounds.

Event tickets are $5 per person with children three years and younger admitted free. 

The event features both live and silent auctions. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. for the silent auction. Live auction begins at 6:30 p.m. There will be a raffle, with tickets sold separately, for a $750 Main Street Market shopping spree.

 

Food distribution set

TORRINGTON – Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies will bring its mobile food pantry to the Ford Pavilion at the Goshen County Fairgrounds next month.

Hosted by the Goshen County Ministerial Association, the distribution event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5. The time change is to better accommodate working individuals and families in need of food assistance.

The Ministerial Association is currently seeking volunteers, as well as monetary donations to assist in covering the approximately $2,000 cost of each food bank event. Volunteers and donations are sought for the February event, as well as for regular monthly events in March, April and May.

Individuals wishing to volunteer are asked to arrive at the Pavilion no later than 5 p.m. to assist in setting up. For additional information, call (307) 532-2977.
