Haven on the Rocks hosts Gun Bingo to support camp
TORRINGTON – “Bingo!” echoed through the halls of the Goshen County Rendezvous Center Saturday evening.
Haven on the Rocks, a biblical camp “exist(ing) to proclaim Jesus as Lord and Savior, through the teachings of God’s word, in the midst of providing a quality camp experience, hosted gun bingo to support their camp.
“Haven on the Rock is a Christian camp that is in our backyard in Goshen County,” Zach Bennett explained. “These kids get a Jesus experience with an emphasis of ‘if you’re not having fun, you’re not going to come back next year.’ So, we hide Jesus in every place that we can.”
Just before 5 p.m., people lined up outside the door to the Rendezvous Center as they waited to enter. The smell of barbequed meat filled the air as entrants made their way into the building.
“We had roughly 270 people from Platte County, Goshen County and the surrounding counties,” Bennett said. “We had a great turnout. Thank you to all of the communities for supporting so many gift certificates, so much stuff; the outpouring into it, could not have put it on without the communities’ help.”
According to Bennett, the two primary sponsors for the event were Pinnacle Bank and Dinklage Feed Yards. Pinnacle Bank sponsored the event by renting the Rendezvous Center and Dinklage Feed Yards sponsored the event by offering a Texas wild boar hunt through Rhino Outdoor Adventures.
Bennett also expressed thanks to all the volunteers who helped put the event together and to local FFA members and 4-H members who helped with setup, cleaning and helping out throughout the event.
The event featured a series of Bingo games and raffle drawings. Items available to win included several firearms, shotguns, rifles and handguns, a three-person guided Goose Hunt with High Plains Wingshooters, A two-person guided pheasant hunt in Riverbend Hunting and Shooting preserve near Casper and a Black Hills Adventure, a date night package and much more.
Firearms were transferred to winners through Insight Precision Arms LLC of Torrington. Some winners traded their firearms while others kept their win.
