American Legion holds Friday MS fundraisers

TORRINGTON – The American Legion Post No. 5 is continuing its 30-plus year tradition of raising money for multiple sclerosis patients in Wyoming. All it takes is some lip gloss, a dress and some tips.

Patsy VanBuskirk, clubroom manager at the Legion, has her male bartenders wear their best dresses each Friday night through February, and at the end, their tips will be donated to Wyoming Cares, a nonprofit organization that helps Wyomingites diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis, more commonly known as MS, is a disease of the central nervous system that causes slow development of neurological symptoms, according to the National MS Society.

VanBuskirk said they’ve always donated to multiple sclerosis, and they’re happy to now donate directly to Wyoming Cares so the funds stay in the community.

Those interested can visit the American Legion on Fridays throughout February to tip their bartenders and donate to benefit those with MS.
