WHEATLAND - Three local standout football players were honored April 17 at the Hilltop Bar & Grill by members of the Korein Shrine and recognized for their selection to play in this year’s 48th Annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl to be held in Casper at Chaney Alum Field June 12 at 2 p.m.

The football players who were recognized were Adam Suko from Wheatland High School, Cody Pierce from Torrington High School and Dylan Dreiling from Torrington High School.

All three players were accompanied by their parents and treated to a recognition dinner.

Two other local players, Drake Lamp from Niobrara County and Harrison Hall from Southeast were also supposed to be in attendance but had prior commitments.

“We wanted the ballplayers from this area to be here and receive a handshake tonight and will be recognized,” said Frank Selby, the executive director for the Shrine Bowl. “Everything that they get for the Shrine Bowl will be handed out the week of the Shrine Bowl. Unfortunate with the COVID, we had to make some decisions last week that we’re not able to go to the hospital. Utah has not opened any restrictions as yet and our hospitals are still locked down. Usually, we hand out the uniforms and the jerseys on Thursday night and several other little items for them.”

An annual tradition was taking the all-stars to Salt Lake City to visit the children at the Shriner’s Hospital, but that will not be a part of the package this year.
