TORRINGTON – After a successful Cut-A-Thon in June, A Class Act owner Jan Alexander is already looking at new organizations for next year’s event.

The cut-a-thon began eight years ago to support Breast Cancer awareness and survivors.

Jan Alexander said, “We have been doing this for eight years. It started when we were chosen by Matrix to help with their event for Wyoming.”

This year, the cut-a-thon participants wanted to help Goshen County Friendship Senior Center, giving back to the community.

“We wanted to give back to our community, so we decided to do a cut-a-thon and pick local charities to donate the money too,” Alexander said. “All the money that comes in that day from the food and T-shirt sales goes to our chosen organization for that year. This year the donation went to the Goshen County Friendship Center, we raised $8,960.”

Supporting the cut-a-thon for the past eight years is Bill Pickerel, owner of J&S Car Wash. Pickerel donates all the money from the car wash on the day of the cut-a-ton.

“I was pleased to help Jan with her Project. It turns out great every year. She has been doing it by herself for eight years and we are glad that we are part of it,” Pickerel said.

Aaron Walz, owner of Walz Water, raffled off a water purification system for the cut-a-thon and is a new supporter for the event.

“I just joined the team. It was my first year I was glad to help out and to continue he years to come,” Walz said

Linda Cockett Director of the Goshen County Friendship Senior Center accepted the check presented by Jan Alexander.

Cockett said, “On behalf of all the seniors of Goshen County we just really appreciate everything that you all have done. This donation will help with meals, transportation, in home services and everything else that we do for the seniors,”
