TORRINGTON – The future Agriculture Technology Education center at Eastern Wyoming College here just received a financial shot in the arm.
Black Hills Energy, which lives its mission of “every day, we want to improve life with energy” is the latest ATEC investor.
“Our 70 Ag majors will greatly benefit from the investment of Black Hills Energy by enhancing the learning experiences while here,” said Dr. Monte Stokes EWC agriculture program director. “The donation is greatly
appreciated.”
ATEC will be the premier agriculture facility in the region, boasting 29,000 sq. ft., including wet and dry labs, and a greenhouse. The goals for the new facility include enhancing agriculture education and developing
workforce.
“It’s exciting to partner with the college and lay the groundwork for their future endeavors,” said Tim Morgan, supervisor of gas operation for the eastern Wyoming Area. John Hansen, EWC director of institutional development, agreed: “Black Hills Energy’s investment in ATEC is part of a larger belief in where we are heading as an institution,” he said
EWC is readying a capital campaign to close the funding gap and begin construction on ATEC. Todd Peterson, president of EWC’s Foundation called the donation a “testament to their belief in higher education and the impact ATEC will have on the region.”
