GOSHEN COUNTY – After a slight reprieve from the cold and snow. Residents in Goshen County need to be prepared for winter to smack them in the face once again.

A winter storm made its way into Goshen County late Tuesday night into Wednesday dumping snowfall totals from four to seven inches throughout the county.

The weekend will bring another storm system this way, but Thursday should provide a bit of a reprieve from the snow, temporarily.

“The major snow impact days will be early Saturday into Sunday evening,” said Ayesha Wilkinson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. “Right now, we’re seeing that a majority of the snowfall will occur Saturday into Sunday evening.”

Snowfall should be expected to start Friday and continue into Sunday evening. Snowfall totals are expected to be a foot and potentially more.

With this storm expected to roll in Friday, Wilkinson wanted to make sure that ranchers, farmers and people with livestock that this storm could bring potential dangers to their livestock.

“Any people with livestock need to make sure they’re protected because we could see wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour,” Wilkinson said. “With the combination of high winds and heavy snowfall, it could potentially bring blizzard-like conditions to Goshen County.”

The strong wind gusts are expected to be in Goshen County from Saturday morning into Sunday evening.

The Weather Service in Cheyenne has been putting out messages to people telling them to prepare for a round one round two storm. This just means there are two separate storm systems that will have an impact on Goshen County.

The first storm system was Tuesday night into Wednesday and the second system is expected for Friday into Sunday evening.

“When we get into Friday afternoon, that’s when the big heavy snow will start coming in,” Wilkinson said.

With the snowfall totals expected to be large, residents are reminded that sidewalks in front of your house are supposed to be cleared off within 24 hours after the snow has ended. If you need any help with clearing off your sidewalk call the City Council number and they will get someone who can help you clear your walkway.
