CHEYENNE – A winter weather advisory for possible prolonged, heavy snow has been issued, affecting much of southeastern Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle tonight in into Tuesday morning.
The advisory will be in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday, superseding a previous Winter Storm Watch which had been issued for the area. The advisory includes the possibility of snow and freezing fog developing Monday evening and continuing overnight.
Snow is expected between 7 p.m. and midnight Monday. Total accumulations of three to six inches can be expected. Heavier amounts, with additional travel impacts, can be expected on portions of Interstate 80 and Interstate 25 in and around the Southern Laramie Range and North Snowy Range Foothills.
A winter weather advisory means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Caution is urged while driving, and motorists are warned to be prepared for snow-covered roads and reduced visibility, to possibly less than one mile with this specific event.
Current road conditions for the state may be obtained by dialing 5-1-1 or via an interactive map at wyoroad.info.
