TORRINGTON – Memorial services for William F. Harper, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Eaton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. William died Nov. 25, 2017, at Region West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb., and cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 
William was born May 30, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of Walton and Frances (Manganice) Harper. He grew up and received his education in Port Arthur graduating high school there. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served four years, being discharged in 1969. He married Sheila Saxton on Aug. 2, 1969, in San Diego, Calif. They lived in Port Arthur for two years and then moved to Chadron, Neb., in 1971.
In 1985 they moved to Torrington. He worked as an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in December 2006.
William enjoyed horses.
William is survived by his wife Sheila of Torrington; two sons Troy Durant Harper of Kimball, Neb., and William Grant (Allison) Harper of Sheridan; a daughter Cher Daneen (Johnny) Buchanan of Lingle; brothers Gary Lynn (Mary) Harper of Reno, Nev., Charles Harper of Marshall, Texas and Jerry Harper of Houston, Texas; a sister Melba Freeman of Palestine, Texas; grandchildren Thomas Edmunds III of Lingle, Lyndsey Edmunds of Lovell, Gage Harper of Kimball, and Joey Harper, Seth Harper, Naomi Harper all of Sheridan; two great-grandchildren, Thomas Edmunds IV and Aftin Edmunds of Lingle. He was preceded in death by his parents.
