TORRINGTON – William “Bill” James Hennessy, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the Goshen Care Center. 

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Valley View Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Wayland officiating. Cremation has taken place and arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home. Friends may send their condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Bill was born January 14, 1935, in Loveland, Colo. the son of William Joseph and Florence Ann (Mattson) Hennessy. He was born and raised in Loveland and after high school he attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Bill later went to work construction in California where he met Bonnie Dodge. The couple was married Nov. 20, 1959. They moved back to Loveland to a small farm where they raised sheep, steers and hunting dogs. The couple had two sons, Mike and Steve. Bill worked as a union electrician until they moved to Torrington in 1980, settling on a farm south of town. Bill farmed and worked for Holly Sugar until he retired in 2004.

Bill loved hunting, fishing, camping and rodeo. In his younger years was an avid calf roper.  

He is survived by his two sons, Mike (Jan) Hennessy of Kersey, Colo., and Steve (Amy) Hennessy of Loveland; four grandchildren, Chasta (Todd) Lambert of Ackron, Colo., Jason (Val) Hennessy of Greeley, Colo., Lyndee Hennessy (Mark Wensler) of Denver, Colo. and Samatha Hennessy of Loveland; four great grandchildren, Colton Lambert of LaSalle, Colo., Justice Lambert (Nick) Drysdale of Briggsdale, Colo., Karsen and Rylan Hennessy of Greeley, and two great-great-grandchildren Lyndyn Lambert and Haxton Drysdale.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bonnie and his daughter-in-law Amy.
