CHEYENNE – Portions of southeast Wyoming will be under a Strong Wind Watch, beginning Thursday evening and continuing into Saturday.
Forecasters predict portions of the area will be subjected to strong winds beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing Thursday night and in to Friday. Periods of strong winds are expected to persist through Saturday, with sustained westerly winds of 35 to 45 miles per hour and gusts expected to 65 mph within the watch area.
Strong crosswinds will create dangerous travel for light weight and high profile vehicles, including camping and travel trailers, especially on north to south oriented roads.
This watch includes much of Interstate 25 and Interstate 80 in Wyoming. In addition, periods of snow late Friday night through Saturday may result in very low visibilities and slick road conditions at times.
