TORRINGTON – Memorial service and celebration of life service for Wayne Orville Birkley, 88, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at Lifeway Church in Torrington, with Pastor Jeff Robinson officiating. Wayne passed December 5, 2022, in his sleep at his home.

Wayne was born June 2, 1934, in Newcastle, Nebraska, the son of Orville and Lyla (Anfinson) Birkley. He was drafted into the US Army in 1956 at the end of the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1958.

He married Colleen Bell on February 14, 1960, in Loveland, Colorado. They have four children. Wayne was a long-time Farm/ Rancher. He loved his cattle but loved his family even more. His strong work ethic carries on through his family.
Wayne is survived by his wife Colleen of Torrington; son Randy (Shelley) Birkley of Circle, Montana, son Danny (Joyce) Birkley of Torrington, daughter Brenda (Phil) Wyrick of Midlothian, Texas and son Brian (Harriet) Birkley of Osage; seven grandchildren Lorena (Tommy) Stypula, of Sheridan, Curtis (Courtney) of Torrington, Heidi (Mike) Molitor of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Wes (Chloe) and Brice (Yasmin) of Newcastle, Savannah and Lyla Wyrick of Midlothian, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, a sister Marlys Arndt, Loveland, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Phyllis Crispe; a brother Wally Birkley; and a grandson, Brandon Birkley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Regional West Hospice, Wounded Warriors, or the Hawk Springs Church. The Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
