Wannittia “Jean” Hiatt Clutter

TORRINGTON – Wannittia “Jean” Hiatt Clutter, 96, passed away December 11, 2021 at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington.

Jean was born March 8, 1925 in Grant City, Missouri, the daughter of Jack and Mary (Pickering) Hiatt. She grew up and received her early education there, moving to Torrington in the early 1940’s. On April 28, 1945, she married Donald “Dean” Clutter and they were later divorced.

She worked at Coast-To-Coast for many years and later retired from EWC. She enjoyed many interests including hunting, ceramics, embroidery, quilting, painting, and was always loyal to the Denver Broncos. She loved having all of her family home for Easter, Thanksgiving and Sunday family dinners (and extras were always welcome).

Jean is survived by son, Monty (Janice) Clutter of Douglas; daughter, Lola Sowards of Torrington; son, Joe (Henrietta) Clutter of Torrington; daughter, Elaine Rush of Torrington; sister, Billie Fern Wake of Isadora, Missouri; brother Jerry (Suzanne) Hiatt of Platte City, Missouri; 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was proceeded in death by her daughter, Paula (Clutter) Matthews; great granddaughter, Kelsie Clutter; brothers, Burl and Paul Hiatt; parents, Jack and Mary (Pickering) Hiatt.

Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
