Walk-off gives Torrington Twisters win over Rockettes

TERRYTOWN, Neb. – Brylee Dean knocked in a run with a single in extra innings to give the Torrington Twisters 14-and-under softball team a 6-5 win Tuesday in the first game in a double-header against the Colorado Rockettes in Terrytown.
The Rockettes struck first, plating two runs in the top of the third inning. The Twisters were able to rebound, scoring four runs of their own in the fourth to take a lead. Colorado tied things up at four after scoring two runs in the fifth, forcing the game into extra innings.
The Rockettes scored one run in the top of the sixth, putting the pressure on Torrington. The Twisters scored the tying run and a single by Dean brought in the second, giving Torrington the win.

Brady Laucomer was the only Twister with multiple hits. She added two runs and an RBI to her stat sheet. Avery Fox, who had a triple, paced Torrington in the RBI category, with three. Dean finished with two RBI in the contest.
Calysta Trevino got the start on the mound for the Twisters, tossing five innings. She surrendered five hits and only two earned runs, while striking out five batters and walking one. Fox came in for cleanup duty in the sixth inning, allowing one hit and one earned run on 12 pitches.
In the second game, Torrington picked up where they left off, scoring four runs in the top of the inning. Colorado rebounded for two runs in the second, but the Twisters pulled away, scoring three in the third and two in the fourth to pick up the 9-2 win.
Seven different Twisters accounted for the seven hits in the win. Kierra Miller was the only Twister to score twice. Fox and Dean kept their bats alive, as they, along with Mariyah Avila, had two RBIs apiece in the win. Avila had a triple in the second game.
Dean toed the rubber for the second game, pitching all four innings. She allowed three hits and zero earned runs. She struck out eight batters and walked five.
The Twisters improved to 28-11 on the season. They return to the diamond this weekend for the Rushmore Classic in Rapid City, S.D.
