CHEYENNE – The Goshen County indoor track and field athletes again joined Cheyenne Central for the Cheyenne Central Invitational on Saturday, with two Torrington athletes winning first.
Nakalyn Garner snagged the top spot in the pole vault after clearing 9 feet. Aaron Borger was the second local athlete to win, taking first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.37.
Lingle-Fort Laramie’s Kelly Peterson also competed in the 800, taking seventh with a time of 2:22.25. Cameron Juma (THS) was just behind Peterson with a time of 2:23.37, which earned him eighth. Also in the boys action, Blazer Scott Woodruff finished second in the shot put with a put of 45 feet, 3.5 inches. Corbin Harris, also a Blazer charted a throw of 42 feet, 3 inches to take fourth.
Back in the girls events, Kaylan Maez joined Garner in the pole vault with a 7-foot effort, earning her fourth. In other field events, Jordyn Gaspers (L-FL) tied for fifth in the high jump after clearing 4 feet, 2 inches. Fellow Lady Dogger Kalli Nichol cleared 4 feet in the high jump, tying for seventh.
On the track, L-FL’s Cora Fredrick had the best finish, taking seventh in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 7:42.40. Maez took eighth in the 55-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 10.67 seconds.
