TORRINGTON – Bryan Lemmon and Jordan Malm, both Torrington Trailblazer juniors, earned all-conference recognition this year, while Lemmon was also named all-state.

“I’m really happy for Bryan and he definitely deserved to be all-state,” coach Neil Baker said. “Jordan had the type of year for all-state, but there are just a bunch of great athletes across the state.”

Lemmon had a packed stat line throughout the season. He averaged 15 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He hit 34 percent of his three-pointers (34-of-99), while shooting 50 percent from inside the arc. He finished second on the team with his 43 assists on the year, while pacing the Blazers with 35 steals and 16 blocks this winter.

Among the leaders in the east conference, Lemmon sat fourth in both scoring and rebounding, while occupying the eighth slot in assists. Compared to the entire state, Lemmon was seventh in scoring and eighth on the glass.

“Bryan is a driver and a slasher,” Baker said. “He can really use transition.”

Malm splashed home 37 three-pointers on the year, to pace Torrington, hitting 35 percent from deep, along with 78 percent from the free-throw line. He led the Blazers in scoring, with 15.4 points. Rounding out his stat line, Malm accounted for 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

The junior finished third in the scoring department among 3A East players. He was 10th in three-point percentage and third in free throw percentage. He scored the sixth-most points in the state and was seventh at the free-throw line compared to the whole state.

“Jordan uses a lot of his perimeter game but toward the end of the season he really started using his midrange jumper,” Baker said.

The two Blazers combined for the five highest scoring performances for the Blazers this year, with Malm having three of the top games, including a 33-point game, and Lemmon kicking in the other two, with his highest scoring output at 29 points.

“They were really our offensive leaders. It’s nice to have two guys to be able to score each night like that,” Baker said. “They’re the kind of kids other coaches have to game plan for.”

Lemmon was the lone all-stater for the Blazers this year. Rawlins led the way with three all-state nominees, while Buffalo, Cody and Riverton all had two players recognized. Douglas, Lander, Newcastle and Pinedale all joined Torrington with one all-state player.

In the 3A East, Buffalo had four all-conference players, with Rawlins and Newcastle kicking in three athletes apiece. Torrington had two honorees, while one player was recognized from Douglas, Thermopolis, Wheatland and Worland.

Torrington also had two all-conference honorable mentions with senior Nathan Stitt and junior Jared Lemmon. Stitt finished the year averaging 5.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and a team-high 2.3 assists per game. Lemmon chipped in 9.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal per game. Lemmon had the highest rebounding total in the east.

Bryan and Jared Lemmon, along with Malm, who was all-state last year, will all be returning for the Blazers next year.

“They’re the kind of guys who aspire to be leaders,” Baker said. “We are really excited to get them back next year.”
