TORRINGTON – Troy Dee Ouderkirk was born March 23, 1964 and passed away Dec. 18, 2020. Troy grew up in the Nebraska area. He lived with his grandma Hammond in Mitchell, Neb. in his younger days. Then, through his high school years, he moved to Torrington to be and live with mom Rose Tanner and stepdad Lee Tanner.

When he graduated from Torrington High School, he left to work in the oil field with the company Arma Geophysical. He started out as a vibe operator then moved up to the head mechanic for the crew. He worked many years at Arma Geophysical until he hurt his back.

He met Darla Drummond while working for the company. They got married in Las Vegas, Nev. May 2, 1988. They were married for 32 years. Troy then went to work for the company Nowcap and the company Wyoming Weatherization. He worked there for 30 years.

Troy helped the community with many houses that were set up and approved for weatherization. He wrote grants for the company, traveled to many other states for job training and went to many seminars with his job. He was a hard worker and was very dedicated to his job and fellow employees.

He belonged to the Torrington Fire Department for over 25 years. He held office as a secretary, vice president and president of the Torrington Fire Department. He was also awarded Rookie of the Year. He was very dedicated to the fire department and loved being around all his fellow members of the fire department.

Troy loved fishing, dirt bikes, riding his motorcycle through the mountains and he especially loved NASCAR. He actually test drove a NASCAR car in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and his practice time on the track was very good. When he crawled out of that NASCAR car, his smile and face were priceless.

Troy loved his family, friends and all his special four-legged kids. Troy really enjoyed his mother-in-law Frances Drummond, especially when she got to come down from Montana and spend the winters with him in Torrington.

Troy Ouderkirk touched a lot of people’s hearts in the Torrington community. He will be missed. God bless you Troy Dee Ouderkirk, and hope you are at peace. A spring funeral is planned for him.
