GILLETTE – Torrington’s Logan Harris set a state indoor track and field record in shot put, while several other Goshen County athletes competed with Cheyenne Central at the state meet in Gillette on March 3-4.
Harris recorded a throw of 61-2.5, just shy of seven feet more than the second-place throw. Harris’ throw cements him in the record books, with the best throw in state indoor track history.
Landen Fuller ran a personal best in the 800-meter run, clocking a 2:01.92. His effort is the third-fasted 800 time by a Lingle-Fort Laramie athlete. The Dogger was also on Cheyenne Central’s 4x400 relay that finished third with a time of 3:30.95.
A pair of Blazers also finished in the top-eight in their respective events. Tristan DeMott took sixth in the pole vault, clearing 12-6, which matched his season best. Aaron Borger ran a leg of the 4x800 relay for Cheyenne Central. The relay team took sixth with a time of 8:50.99.
Several other Goshen County athletes competed in Gillette but were unable to secure a finish in the top eight. The tracksters’ indoor season came to a close after the state meet. Outdoor track begins March 18.
