TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School volleyball team dropped a pair of home games Friday and Saturday to Wheatland and Rawlins.

On Friday, Wheatland swept the Lady Blazers, 25-14, 25-16, 25-16.

Torrington managed to keep it close early in each of the three sets before the Lady Bulldogs pulled away late in each set.

In the opening set, junior Alyssa Albaugh’s ace drew THS within one at 7-6, but a 6-1 spurt by the visitors, allowed them to begin to pull away.

It was a similar story in the second set.

Wheatland scored the next four points, but Asmus recorded another kill, giving the Lady Blazers a 9-8 lead.

Torrington extended its lead to 11-9, but Wheatland scored eight of the next 10 points en route to a 2-0 set lead.

In the third set, the Lady Blazers led 5-4 after a four-hit possession by Wheatland, but the Lady Bulldogs scored the next four points. However, Torrington still kept things close, trailing 16-13 after an Albaugh kill.

Wheatland went on to score nine of the 12 points to close out the sweep.

The next day, Torrington and Rawlins split the first two sets, but in the end, the Lady Outlaws got the best of the Lady Blazers 3-1.

Rawlins won the opening set 25-23, but Torrington answered with a 25-23 win in the second. The final two sets also went down to the wire with the Lady Outlaws winning 25-23, 26-24.
