TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School tennis teams went 2-1 over the weekend with wins over Rawlins and Rock Springs.

On Thursday, the Blazers opened conference play with a clean sweep of the Rawlins Outlaws.

Torrington tennis teams go 2-1 over the weekend

TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School tennis teams went 2-1 over the weekend with wins over Rawlins and Rock Springs.

On Thursday, the Blazers opened conference play with a clean sweep of the Rawlins Outlaws.

In singles action, Aidyn Saucedo and Isaac Bartlett won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-2, respectively.

In doubles action Cody Clayton and Gabe Russell won 6-1, 6-4, while Ben Firminhac and Adam Bartlett won 6-0, 6-1.

In the girls’ division, Sera Glass won 6-1, 6-2 and Jenessa Derby picked up a win 6-0, 6-2.

Tyne Stokes and Jacee Shields won the only doubles match of the contest, 6-0, 6-3. Trisha Cates and Bethany Wunibald and Sydney Harris and Teona Haines scored forfeit wins.

The next day, the Blazers traveled to Laramie to face Green River and Rock Springs.

Torrington opened the afternoon with wins over Rock Springs.

The Blazer boys won 4-1, while the girls won 5-0.

Saucedo and Bartlett scored straight set wins 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively, in singles action.

In doubles, Clayton and Russell picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win, while Firminhac and Bartlett won 6-4, 6-4.

Torrington was open in the No. 3 doubles and that proved to be its only loss of the match.

Later in the afternoon, the Green River Wolves handed Torrington a pair of 5-0 losses.

The loss was the first of the season for the Lady Blazers.

The Blazers are back in action in Casper on Thursday. They face Kelly Walsh at 10 a.m. and Natrona County at 2 p.m., before traveling to Sheridan on Saturday for a noon match.
