Torrington remains No. 3 in latest rankings


Lingle-Fort Laramie, Southeast receiving votes

TORRINGTON – The Torrington Trailblazer football team remained in the No. 3 spot in the latest Wyopreps.com Coaches and Media Poll released Wednesday morning.

All five teams in Class 3A remained the same as the preseason poll.

Cody received 12 of the 14 first-place votes, while Star Valley was second with one top vote. Torrington knabbed the other first-place vote. Green River and Douglas round out the top five.

Torrington hosts Nebraska foe Gering at 7 p.m. at Wiseman Field.

In 1A, Southeast earned one vote to remain on the outside looking in.

Big Horn and Pine Bluffs stayed the same at one and two, respectively. Cokeville moved up one spot to No. 3 after knocking off Class 2A former No. 1 Mountain View in week one. Upton-Sundance fell to No. 4, while Wind River cracks the top five for the first time in 2018.

The Cyclones received one fifth-place vote as they travel to Rawlins Friday afternoon for a 4 p.m. contest against Cokeville.

In the 6-man ranks, the top three of Farson-Eden, Burlington and Little Snake River remain 1-2-3, respectively. Hanna-Elk Mountain moves up to No. 4, while Midwest moves into the fifth spot as Kaycee falls out of the top five.

Lingle-Fort Laramie received one fifth-place vote. The Doggers host NSI, who also picked up one vote, at 7 p.m. Friday.
