TORRINGTON – An unidentified Torrington man was hospitalized Friday following an apparent early-morning shooting.
Torrington Police Chief Tim Hurd said officers were called to Community Hospital at about 3 a.m. to respond to a report of a shooting victim. Details are sketchy, but officers were told the shooting occurred at a home in the 100 block of Rio Vista Road, Hurd said.
“We were informed where the shooting occurred,” he said. “We secured the house and the vehicle used to transport the victim to the hospital. Search warrants were issued for both.”
The victim was reportedly in surgery Friday, Hurd said.
Exactly what transpired in the Rio Vista home was unclear Friday afternoon, he said. Individuals believed to be associated with the incident were not providing information and police had not had a chance to speak directly with the victim.
Investigators from the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation were called in Friday morning to assist Torrington Police. The name of the victim was being withheld and the investigation is ongoing.
