Torrington, Lingle-Fort Laramie ranked in preseason football poll

TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School and Lingle-Fort Laramie football teams come into the season ranked in the preseason WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media poll which were released on Wednesday.

Torrington comes into the season ranked No. 3 in class 2A. The defending 2A state champion, Lyman, starts the season where it left off in 2021 – at No. 1 – picking up 14 of 16 first-place votes. Lovell is No. 2, receiving the other two first place votes. Wheatland and Cokeville are fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Blazers begin the 2022 season on Friday in Gering, Nebraska. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

In Class 1A 9-Man division, Lingle-Fort Laramie comes in fifth with two fourth-place votes and eight fifth-place votes, while Southeast is receiving votes.

Much like 2A, the 1A 9-Man division sees its defending state champion on top. Shoshoni earned 13 of 17 first-place votes. Pine Bluffs is second, while Rocky Mountain is third. Wind River starts the season fourth.

The Doggers and Cyclones travel to Pine Bluffs on Friday for a preseason jamboree beginning at 4 p.m.
