Torrington girls win Rawlins Invite

RAWLINS – The Torrington girls golf team picked up the team win at the Rawlins Invitational last week, recording a two-day score of 588.
Caleigh Essert again topped the list of all of the girls golfers, finishing first. She scored an 80 on Thursday and a 74 on Friday. Jenna Kaufman also got into the top-10. She scored a 107 on the first day and 103 on the second day, tying for fifth with a two-day score of 210.
“Caleigh had another good week,” coach Jeff Halley said. “Jenna also had a good week to get up and place. It was good for the girls to get a team win.”

Laura Halley found herself third for the Lady Blazers, carding a two-day score of 228 (124, 104). Aubrey Perry rounded out the four scoring Torrington girls, finishing the first day with a 120 and the second day with a 116 (236).
All four Lady Blazers trimmed their score from Thursday to Friday. As a team, Torrington amassed a score of 307 in the first round, trimming that to 281 in the second round.
For the boys, Cameron Murphy busted out of the gates with a solid 79 on Thursday. He also carded an 89 on Friday, finishing with a two-day score of 168, which put him tied for ninth. Jordan Malm was second for the Blazers, scoring an 88 in both rounds. Wyatt Lackman was the third Blazer to compete, carding a 103 and 101.
The Blazers return to the links for competitive action Friday and Saturday for the 3A East Conference Tournament.
