TORRINGTON – The Torrington Lady Trailblazers soccer team fell in back-to-back games over the weekend, losing to Douglas at home on Friday 2-0 before falling on the road Saturday to Lander, 5-0.
Torrington came out hot Friday against the Lady Bearcats, but Douglas found the back of the net on a breakaway in the ninth minute to go up 1-0. The visitors pushed their lead to 2-0 in the 38th minute and they took that lead into halftime.
During the second half, Torrington held on to the ball and maintained possession for a lot of the time, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Lady Blazers managed to keep Douglas, the No. 2 team in the state, from scoring in the second half. Jenessa Derby came up with a big stop on a penalty kick in the 64th minute to keep the score at 2-0. Despite continued pressure through the final whistle, Torrington failed to score.
