Tigers end season with wins

GORDON, Neb. – The Torrington senior Legion baseball team wrapped up the regular season on Wednesday night with a sweep of the Sheridan County Regulators.

The Tigers picked up 9-3 and 10-5 victories to end the season with a 19-13 record.

In game one, Torrington plated seven of the game’s nine runs in the top of the third inning.

Grady Shields tallied two of the team’s five hits. Tiger batters also walked eight times in the win.

Aidyn Saucedo was credited with the win, pitching three innings, striking out one.

In game two, Torrington scored twice in the top of the first to take the early lead en route to the five-run victory.

Ayden Desmond and Ryder Hackbarth had two hits apiece in the win. Desmond earned the win on the mound for the Tigers, pitching four innings and striking out five.

The Tigers now turn their attention to the District Tournament which begins Monday, July 18 in Douglas. Opponent and game time is yet to be determined.
