Tiger ‘B’ team goes 1-1 in Laramie

LARAMIE – The Torrington Tiger ‘B’ team traveled to Laramie for a weekend tournament Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the Tigers picked up a 17-6 run-ruled contest.

The game last only four innings after Rock Springs grabbed a 3-2 lead after one inning.

They extended its lead to 5-2 heading into the bottom of the second.

In the home half of the second, Spencer Booth and Wyler Fisher got the inning going with back-to-back singles. Anthony Moser doubled, driving in two runs, and Rhett Clark singled tied the game at five apiece. A few batters later, Ethan Robbins singled to put the Tigers in front.

Rock Springs tied the game at six in the top of the third, but Torrington answered with eight runs to take a commanding 14-6 lead. In the fourth and final inning, the Tigers added three more runs to wrap up the game.

In all, Torrington pounded out 13 hits. Fisher and Moser led the way, going 3-for-3 at the plate. The duo combined for three RBIs and five runs scored.

Clark picked up the win. He struck out four in four innings of pitching.

On Sunday, the Tigers fell to Loveland, Colorado 13-4.

Torrington led 3-2 after three innings, but in the fourth, Loveland poured in seven runs in the top half of the inning.

The Tigers mustered only one more run for the remainder of the game, while Loveland capped off the game with four in the sixth.

Fisher and Clark went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Caleb Kelly, Moser, Colby Sandusky, Robbins and Garrett Hager had one hit apiece.

The Tigers are now 8-10 on the season. Torrington returns to Laramie to resume a conference doubleheader. Game one was called in the top of the fifth with Laramie leading 9-3. They also host Wheatland on Monday, July 10 for the team’s final home games of the season.
