TORRINGTON – In the Torrington Thunder 14U’s only home game of the season, the team was swept in the doubleheader against the Panhandle Pride team out of Gering, Nebraska.

In game one, the Pride handed the Thunder a 12-0 loss. They scored four runs in the first, six in the second and two in the third.

Torrington didn’t manage to get baserunner on until Sinai Hernandez was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the third.

It also proved to be the only baserunner the had in the three-inning game.

Kennedy Reinhardt was tagged with the loss in the circle for the Thunder. She struck out six, giving up eight earned runs in the loss.

Game two also went to the Panhandle Pride, 14-2.

The Pride jumped on the Thunder in the top of the first inning with four runs, but the Thunder plated their only two runs in the home half of the first inning.

Leadoff hitter Skyla Wunder and Brooklyn Asmus, who was batting third in the lineup, scored the two runs for Torrington. The duo collected two of the team’s three hits in the four-inning game. Kadence Schamel tallied the other hit of the game.

Schamel took the loss, striking out three and surrendering eight hits over four innings.

The two losses drop the Thunder to 5-7 on the season. Torrington is back in action next Wednesday in Wheatland. They will face the Laramie Lightning at 6 p.m. and the Wheatland Lady Lobos at 7:30 p.m.
