TORRINGTON ñ The Torrington High School wrestling team was short-handed due to injuries and absences on Saturday at the annual Blazer Duals.
As a result, the Torrington went 0-2, falling to Glenrock and Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast in a triangular format.
In the opening round, the Blazers were defeated by the Herders, 48-24.
Freshman Reece Grubbs got the day started in the win column for Torrington, pinning Glenrock’s Jake Coziahr in 25 seconds at 113 pounds.
The Blazers scored a forfeit win at 132 pounds, but Torrington only picked up two additional wins the remainder of the dual.
At 152 pounds, freshman Bryce Hager scored a second-second fall victory over Richard Black of Glenrock, while Sam Sorenson battled Haydan Huyser into the second period before scoring the fall at 220 pounds.
Later in the afternoon, Torrington fell to Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast, 48-21.
Hagar scored a late first period fall over LFLSE’s Lance York, while Sorenson moved up to the heavyweight division to face defending Class 2A state runner-up Will Baker.
The bout went the full six minutes as Sorenson scored a 3-1 decision win over Baker.
The Blazers are back at home on Friday for the final home quadrangular of the season, hosting Burns/Pine Bluffs, Buffalo and Wheatland. Action gets underway at 4 p.m.
