WHEATLAND – The Torrington High School golf team opened the 2019 season with a small group heading west to Wheatland.
Coach Jeff Halley and the Blazers took three boys and no girls to the season-opening event, joining Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne South, Cheyenne East, Laramie, Douglas and Wheatland.
Leading the way was freshman Gage Gibson, who shot a 198 over the two-day tournament, shooting a team-low 88 during Thursday’s first round.
Ryder Hackbarth shot a 108 on day one and a 98 on day two, for a 206, while Josh Stitt shot a 279 (136 and 143) over the two days.
None of the trio placed, and with only three players, Torrington did not record a team score.
The Blazers are back in action Thursday and Friday, Aug. 22-23 in Douglas.
