THS, Southeast ranked in latest football poll

TORRINGTON – The Southeast Cyclone and Torrington Blazer football teams continue to hold down spots in the top five of their respective classes of the Coaches and Media Poll.

In the Class 1A 9-Man division, Southeast remains as one of only two unbeatens left in the classification and continues to hold down the No. 1 spot – the spot they have been in since the beginning of the season.

The Cyclones face their toughest opponent to date on Friday afternoon at Teeters Memorial Field in Yoder when the No. 3-ranked Niobrara County Tigers come to town for a 2 p.m. kickoff.

The Tigers are coming off a 62-50 loss to No. 2 Rocky Mountain last Friday.

Shoshsoni, the winners of four straight, anchor the No. 4 spot, and Saratoga comes in at No. 5.

In 2A, there was no change among the top four teams from a week ago.

Mountain View picked up 17 of the 18 first-place votes, while Lyman is second, earning the other first-place vote. Upton-Sundance is No. 3, while the Blazers are fourth. Big Horn and Lovell return to the rankings and are tied for fifth.

The Blazers host Wheatland in their final regular season home game on Friday evening. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
