TORRINGTON – The Torrington Trailblazers donned jerseys with camouflage trim Friday for Military Appreciation Night and scored early and often, picking up a 52-7 win over Lander.

Bryan Lemmon was the first to strike for the Blazers, reaching pay dirt on a 70-yard run. On the ensuing Tigers possession, Jared Lemon recovered a fumbled punt in the end zone to give Torrington its 14-0 lead, which they took into the second quarter.

Breyden Bivens got in on the scoring action, putting up a touchdown on a three-yard run. He also converted the two-point conversion. Bivens then linked up with Lemmon for an 85-yard touchdown pass, upping the Blazer lead to 29-0 by the break.

Bivens scored again with his leg, this time a four-yard run, putting Torrington up 36-0. Lander scored on a one-yard touchdown, but then it was all Torrington. Nathan Stitt found himself of the receiving end of a 19-yard touchdown pass from Bivens. The Blazers scored a safety on a punt that was snapped out of the end zone.

Josh Posten was the lone Blazer to score in the fourth quarter, reeling off an 18-yard touchdown run to get the Blazers their 52-7 win.

On offense, Torrington amassed 402 total yards, with 252 of those coming on 24 rushing attempts and 150 yards coming on four completed passes.

At the helm of the offense, Bivens had a hand in four touchdowns. He went 4-for-8 in the passing game for 150 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing the ball four times for 15 yards and two touchdowns.

Lemmon averaged double-digit yards per carry, racking up 147 yards and a touchdown on 10 rush attempts. He also had one reception for 85 yards and touchdown. Behind Lemmon, Trace English was second on the team in rushing, amassing 35 yards on five carries, while Posten chipped in 31 yards and a touchdown on three carries. Outside of Lemmon and Stitt, who each had a touchdown reception, Ryan Johnson and Lathen Canaday hauled in a catch apiece, combining for 46 receiving yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Lemmon led the way with 24 defensive points. His defensive stat line included five solo tackles, two tackles for loss, an assisted tackle and a blocked kick. Stitt, Jake Wamboldt and Scott Woodruff also racked up double-digit defensive points. Stitt finished the game with five unassisted tackles, two pass break-ups and an interception. Wamboldt tallied five solo tackles, two assisted tackles and two tackles for loss. Woodruff filled his stat line with five solo tackles and four assisted tackles.

The win over the Tigers puts Torrington at 3-1 on the season. The Blazers are also on the right track for a playoff seed with a 1-0 record against conference opponents after Friday. Torrington hosts Buffalo, another conference opponent, Friday for Homecoming, with the kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
