TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School football team remains No. 2 following the 35-22 win over Newcastle in the latest WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Poll released on Wednesday.

TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School football team remains No. 2 following the 35-22 win over Newcastle in the latest WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Poll released on Wednesday.

In fact, there was no movement in the Class 2A rankings. The defending state champion Lyman Eagles remain No. 1, picking up 15 of the 17 possible first-place votes. Torrington is No. 2 with one first-place vote. Lovell is third, Cokeville fourth and Wheatland fifth.

Torrington travels to Wheatland on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest. With a win, the Blazers could lock up the No. 1 seed for the playoffs, while a loss puts the two teams in a tie for the top seed from the East Conference.

In the Class 1A 9-Man division, Pine Bluffs remains on top, earning 13 first-place votes. Shoshoni is second, while Rocky Mountain, Wind River and Niobrara County round out the top five.

Southeast is receiving votes with four five-place votes. Southeast travels to Lusk to face the No. 5-ranked Tigers on Friday at 7 p.m., while the top ranked Hornets host Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers at 7 p.m.
