CASPER – Both the Torrington High School boys’ and girls’ finished sixth in the final team standings at Saturday’s Mustang Invite hosted by Natrona County High School.
The teams had a trio of winners, including seniors Allison Brummell, Ryan Clapper and Kyland Fuller.
In the girls’ division, Brummell picked up the win in triple jump at 36 feet, 2.25 inches, beating out teammate Tylar Stoddard, who finished seventh at 32-4.
Brummell also finished second in high jump, clearing 5-2.
In the running events, senior Tyne Stokes placed second in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 29.23 seconds, while Ada Merrigan was eighth in the race in 2:43.37.
Merrigan also finished eighth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:48.68, while Alyssa Wondercheck was seventh in the 200-meter dash in 28.32 seconds.
As a team, the Lady Blazers finished the day with 32 points. Cheyenne Central won the team title with 132.5 points. Laramie High School was second with 71, and Kelly Walsh was third with 50.5.
In the boys’ division, Clapper picked up a win in the 400-meter dash in 52.30 seconds, while Fuller won the 800-meter run in 2:01.59. Fuller beat out teammate Aydan Loya, who placed sixth in 2:05.98.
Clapper also finished second in the 200-meter dash in 23.17 second, while Brendan Flock was fifth in 23.81 seconds. Flock also placed in the 55-meter dash in 6.72 seconds, finishing fourth.
In the mile, Loya led a trio of Blazer runners with a fifth-place finish in 4:47.55. Weston Cronk was sixth in 4:51.86, and Myles Wilson finished just outside of the top eight with a ninth-place finish in five minutes flat.
In field events, Tyler Bennick placed sixth with a toss of 42-8.25 in shot put.
The Torrington boys finished sixth with 50 points. Laramie High School won the team title with 100 points, while Cheyenne Central was second with 87. Kelly Walsh was third with 75.5.
Torrington is back in action at Natrona County on Friday, Feb. 18. Action gets underway at 10 a.m.
