WHEATLAND – The Torrington High School golf team wrapped up the 2022 spring golf season on Wednesday in Wheatland.
The tournament was moved up to Wednesday as a result of the weather forecast for the rest of the week.
The Blazers ended the season on a strong note, seeing much improvement from the girls’ team.
“I am really excited in the improvement of our young girls’ team,” coach Jeff Halley said. “They have gone from just learning to competing and this week, we had three in the top 10.”
Leading the way for the Lady Blazers was Ty Fogle with a round of 112 to finish eighth. Kaylee Pittman placed ninth with a 113, while Kayleigh Waymire was 10th with a 115.
Sarah Birdsall and Madyson Banister finished just outside the top 10 with rounds of 117 and 125, respectively.
As a team, the Blazers shot 340 to finish third. Cheyenne Central won the team title with 270, while Cheyenne East was second with 326.
In the boys’ division, Gage Gibson and Alex Waring tied for 10th with a round of 88. Mason Wilkes shot a 107, while Taylor Swartwood had a 111 Carl Yeik shot a 115.
As a team, the Blazers shot a 394 to place fifth. Cheyenne Central won the team title with 311, while Laramie was second with 351.
“This was a good tourney for us to finish the spring season,” Halley said. “It was a little smaller, and our kids were able to compete a little better.”
