LARAMIE – A short-handed Torrington High School golf team traveled to Laramie last week for the Laramie Invite.
Alex Waring led the Blazers boys’ team with a round of 100 to place 30th individually. Boden Barnes shot a 108 to finish tied for 37th, while Preston Telford had a 113. Taylor Swartwood fired a 121.
As a team, the Blazers finished the day with a 442 to finish eighth. Cheyenne Central won the team title with a 317, while Kelly Walsh was second with 320.
In the girls’ division, Kayleigh Waymire and Madyson Banister shot a 121 to finish tied for 22nd, while Kaylee Pittman had a 124 to finish 24th. Sarah Birdsall had a round of 131.
The Lady Blazers shot a 366 to place sixth. Kelly Walsh won the girls’ title with a 253, while Cheyenne Central was second with 265.
Torrington is back in action on Thursday in Casper with the varsity team and on Friday in Douglas with both the varsity and junior varsity teams.
