TORRINGTON – The Torrington Trailblazers competed in their sole home invitational of the season Thursday and Friday, with the girls golf team taking second in the team standings.
Caleigh Essert paced the Lady Blazers, carding a two-day score of 152. She shot an 80 on Thursday, but rebounded to card a 72 on Friday. Her score of 152 was 19 strokes better than the second-place finisher.
Laura Halley also reached the top-10, tying for seventh. She finished with 103 on Thursday but trimmed her score to 97 on the second day, finishing with 200 between the two days. Kaylee Wilson rounded out the top-three Torrington girls golfers. Like the two before her, Wilson slid into the top-10, shooting a 208 (106 and 102) across the two days to finish 10th.

In the girls’ standings, Torrington finished second with a two-day team score of 560. They combined to shoot 289 on Thursday, but trimmed that to 271 on Friday. Natrona won the girls’ team title with a two-day score of 535.
Jenna Kaufman and Candee Coxbill also competed for the Torrington girls, as JV players. Kaufman took 18th, shooting 108 and 11 (219), with Coxbill finishing 27th (126 and 127).
In boys action, Torrington fielded three competitors, led by Jordan Malm. The Blazer finished tied for 10th after shooting an 83 on both days, finishing with 166 for the two days. Cameron Murphy was the second best Torrington boy, snagging a share of 24th with a score of 88 on both days, finishing with 176. Wyatt Lackman rounded out the team, taking 46th after shooting 114 on the first day and cutting that score to 89 on the second day (203).
Cheyenne East won the boys’ team title with a score of 604, with Cheyenne Central coming in second (635).
Torrington returns to the course for their final invitational before regionals. The Blazers hit the road for the Rawlins Invitational on Thursday and Friday.
