TORRINGTON – The Torrington Trailblazers competed in their sole home invitational of the season Thursday and Friday, with the girls golf team taking second in the team standings.
Caleigh Essert paced the Lady Blazers, carding a two-day score of 152. She shot an 80 on Thursday, but rebounded to card a 72 on Friday. Her score of 152 was 19 strokes better than the second-place finisher.
Laura Halley also reached the top-10, tying for seventh. She finished with 103 on Thursday but trimmed her score to 97 on the second day, finishing with 200 between the two days. Kaylee Wilson rounded out the top-three Torrington girls golfers. Like the two before her, Wilson slid into the top-10, shooting a 208 (106 and 102) across the two days to finish 10th.
