THS boys eighth at Wyoming Invite

CASPER – The Torrington High School boys’ 4x800-meter relay team won the team’s only event of day at the Wyoming Invite hosted by Cheyenne Central High School at the Natrona County Indoor Track and Field facility.

The team of Myles Wilson, Aydan Loya, Kyland Fuller and Weston Cronk won the race in 8 minutes, 34.42 seconds, beating out Kelly Walsh High School by more than 18 seconds.

Fuller finished second in the 400-meter dash in 52.21 seconds, edging teammate Ryan Clapper, who finished sixth in 52.89.

Clapper also finished sixth in the 200-mter dash in 23.50 seconds, beating out Brendan Flock, who crossed the finish line seventh.

Loya also scored team points for THS in the 800-meter run, finishing sixth in 2:06.70.

Flock also just missed out on points in the 55-meter dash with a ninth-place finish, as did Wilson in the mile with a 10th-place finish.

As a team, the Blazers scored 29 points to finish eighth, the highest finishing 3A team. Sheridan High School won the team title with 123 points. Campbell County High School was second with 72 points. Kelly Walsh was third with 71.

In the girls’ division, the Lady Blazers picked up a trio of third-place finishes.

Tyne Stokes, Allison Brummell and the 4x800-meter relay team all ended the day with thirds.

Stokes finished third in the 200-meter dash in 1:02.68, while Brummell finished third in triple jump at 34 feet, 8.75 inches. The 4x800-meter relay team of Tiffany Krueger, Ada Merrigan, Stokes and Amberly Froerer finished third in 10:48.88.

THS also had a pair of fifth-place finishes.

Alyssa Wondercheck was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.98 seconds, while Brummell was fifth in high jump, clearing five feet.

The Lady Blazers finished 10th with 25 points. Campbell County won the event with 81 points. Natrona County was second with 73. Cody was third with 69.

The Torrington indoor track and field teams travel to Laramie on Friday, Feb. 25.
