Three Cyclones win matches at Ron Thon

RIVERTON – Three Southeast High School wrestlers picked wins at the annual Ron Thon Memorial Wrestling Tournament in Riverton over the weekend.

Tate Carson led the way with a 4-2 weekend, while Brady Tosh went 2-2. Brock Blevins picked up a single win.

Carson came one win away from placing.

In the 182-pound bracket, Carson opened the weekend with a win in the opening round but fell in the second round.

Carson battled back with three straight wins, including a pair of falls in the wrestle back rounds and an 11-5 decision in the fourth round of the consolation bracket.

In the ensuing round, Bo Dearcorn of Powell, ended the medal hopes, pinning Carson to end his weekend.

At 195 pounds, Tosh opened the tournament with a first-round bye but lost in the second round to Paker Schlater of Moorcroft.

Tosh bounced back with a pair of pins in the consolation bracket before being eliminated in the fourth round of the wrestle backs to Ben Banville of Burns-Pine Bluffs.

In the 113-pound bracket, Blevins won his only match of the weekend in the second round of the consolation bracket with a pin over Cheyenne East’s David Stice.

Kaden Brothwell (106 pounds) and Greg Logsdon (132) went 0-2.

As a team, Southeast finished 32nd out of 43 teams who competed at the two-day tournament. Kelly Walsh won the tournament with 217.5 points. Green River was second with 181 points, while Thunder Basin was third with 152.

The Cyclones will host the Southeast Duals on Saturday. Action gets underway at 9 a.m.
