Three Blazers named all-conference

TORRINGTON – Torrington’s Tyler Ring and Jordan Malm were named all-conference and all-state, while Logan Murphy represented the Lady Blazers on the all-conference list.
Ring, the Blazer boys’ lone senior, paced Torrington in three different categories. He amassed 11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2 steals and 0.7 blocks per game this season. He led Torrington in total rebounds, defensive rebounds (2 DRPG) an blocks. Ring shot 49 percent from the field and 62 percent from the charity stripe.
As a sophomore, Malm topped the stat sheet in scoring for Torrington, chipping in 17.2 points per game. He tied Ring in total rebounds per game, with 6.2, while adding 2 assists, 1 steal and 0.3 blocks per game. He drained 54-of-137 from behind the arc for a 39 percent shooting percentage from three-point land. He also shot 53 percent from inside the arc.

Malm and Ring led the Blazers to a consolation championship this winter. The Torrington boys posted a 16-10 record this season with the two all-state players at the helm.
Riverton had the most all-state boys, with three. Douglas, Lyman and Torrington each had two players, while Buffalo, Pinedale, Rawlins, Wheatland and Worland each had one representative.
On the girls’ side, Murphy was the only Lady Blazer to snag postseason honors. She racked up 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.2 steals throughout the season for Torrington, earning her all-conference recognition. She led the Lady Blazers in scoring, defensive rebounds, total rebounds and steals. Murphy had four total blocks this winter.
The Lady Blazers finished the 2016-17 season 10-12 and finished one win away from the state tournament.
