Ten Blazers place in Casper

CASPER – Ten Torrington Trailblazers track and field competitors placed in the top-eight at the Kelly Walsh Invitational on Saturday, with the boys finishing seventh and girls tying for 15th.

The Blazer boys dominated the middle distances, led by Aaron Borger, who took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.43. Borger also took second in the 400 with a time of 53.57 seconds. Matthew Garcia snagged fourth in the event with a time of 54.39 seconds. Kevin Parish (54.85 seconds), who finished sixth, and Bo Moorehouse (55.07 seconds), who finished eighth, rounded out the placers in the 400.

Moving to the field events, Torrington’s throwers continued their solid spring. Jacob Wamboldt finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 9.25 inches, edging out Nathaniel Woodruff, who finished fifth with a 46-foot, 7.75-inch effort. Woodruff paced Torrington in the discus, taking sixth with a throw of 129 feet, 2 inches.

Casey Britton was the final placer for Torrington, clearing 5 feet, 8 inches in the high jump to take fifth.

As a team, the Blazer boys racked up 43 points to finish seventh in the team standings. Billings West won the boys’ team title with 128 points. Natrona County, with 94 points, and Kelly Walsh, with 70 points, rounded out the top-three teams.

Girls

Samantha Hill was the lone Lady Blazer to place in Casper on Saturday. She picked up a seventh-place finish in the triple jump, clearing 31 feet, 3.5 inches.

Torrington’s girls racked up two points to tie Ten Sleep and Wheatland for 15th place. Billings West also won the girls team title with 131.5 points. Billings Senior’s 104 points and Cheyenne Central’s 102 points got them in the top-three.

Wyoming Track Classic

Six Blazers competed in the Wyoming Track Classic on Friday in Casper. The classic was invite-only, with the top performers across the state, regardless of class, competing.

Bryan Lemmon had the top finish among the Blazers, finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.48 seconds. The junior also cleared 6 feet in the high jump to take fourth.

Borger snagged a fourth-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:00.96.

In the throwing events, Woodruff snagged seventh in the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 3 inches. He also took eighth in the discus, clearing 128 feet, 4 inches. Wamboldt had a put of 46 feet to take eighth.

For the Lady Blazers, Nakalyn Garner took fifth in the pole vault after clearing 10 feet. Sera Glass competed on the track for Torrington, taking sixth in the 3200 with a time of 13:00.65. She also clocked a time of 2:43.50 in the 800, earning ninth.

In the Wyoming Track Classic, Torrington’s boys finished with 21.5 points, taking ninth in the team race. The Lady Blazers amassed seven points to finish 21st. Cheyenne Central (62.5) won the girls team race and Kelly Walsh stood atop the boys standings with 63 points.
