Task Force director honored for leadership in advocacy

TORRINGTON – The Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault annually selects four outstanding Wyoming citizens for their extraordinary work in the fight against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.

This year, the Goshen County Task Force Director Michelle Powell was recognized for her leadership role and advocacy for those who have suffered abuse and perhaps violence. The award recognized Michelle for “actively dedicating herself to finding innovative solutions and alternatives to interpersonal violence in Wyoming.”

She has served as an advocate and leader for many years and has acted as a mentor and inspiration to others, both locally and state-wide.

The Goshen County Task Force is a non-profit organization. They are successful through funding by grants and donations from people like you. This year a new outreach office was opened at Eastern Wyoming College. The Director saw a need to be available to college students who need help with domestic violence situations. It is already proving to be a needed resource to students.

The services of the Goshen County Task Force are available to those in need at no cost to the victims. While there is no cost to victims, there is a cost to GCTF. You can join the fight against domestic violence with donations. Donations can be dropped off at the GCTF office at 1933 Main Street or mailed to P O Box 561, Torrington WY 82240.
