TORRINGTON – Memorial services for Sydney Carole Johnson, 69, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at All Saints Episcopal Church with Reverend Diane Carleton officiating. Sydney died at her home on Feb. 9, 2023, and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to the All Saints Community Garden. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Sydney was born March 6, 1953, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Sidney and Joanne (Potter) Franks. She graduated high school in Evergreen, Colorado in 1971. She attended Colorado State University obtaining an avian science degree in 1975. She later received her Master of Arts in Education Degree. She worked for the Colorado Department of Transportation for twenty plus years as a soils engineer. She met Thomas Johnson in 1979. They married May 24, 1980, in Grand Junction, Colorado. They welcomed their son Zachary in 1984 and their daughter Katharine in 1988. She was a passionate 4-H leader and mom for twenty-five years in both Colorado and Wyoming. She loved barrel racing as a youth and was a member of the Saddle Tramps Horse Club of Evergreen, Colorado. Throughout the years she attended many horse shows, livestock shows, and judging contests. She went to the school of Iona where she became a Deacon for the Episcopal Church. She was the camp director of Hank Raymond Camp in Esterbrook from 2011 to 2014. She loved spending time with her loving husband, children and grandchildren.

Sydney enjoyed gardening, fishing, barrel racing, 4-H and raising sheep. She was a member of 4-H, FFA Alumni, Mary Kay Cosmetics, a deacon for the Episcopal Church of Wyoming and worked as the Episcopal Relief and Development Coordinator, and for the Commission of Ministry.

Sydney is survived by her husband Thomas of Yoder; son Zachary (Kelsey) Johnson of Lingle; daughter Katharine Johnson of Glenrock; sisters Dana (Mike) Johnson of White Water, Colorado and Patricia Franks of Omaha, Nebraska. Brother Foster (Mary Alice) Potter of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandchildren Maddi, Raylynn and Sydney of Glenrock and Paisley and Carson of Lingle; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Sid and Joanne.
