TORRINGTON – Twelve local wrestlers racked up the wins at the state tournament in Casper this past weekend, with Goshen County combining to bring home 12 medals.
This year, Goshen County had three wrestlers reach the state championship match including Torrington’s Jacob Wamboldt and Tristen Kingsley, along with Southeast’s Hunter Woodruff. All three suffered a loss in the title match, with two coming by decision and one a loss by pin late in the third period, but the trio finished the weekend at 3-1 and all brought home silver medals.
For Torrington, Quentin Meyer and Jacob Polkowske both picked up fifth-place finishes. Meyer went 3-2 on the weekend, including a trip to the semi-finals. Polkowske fell in his quarterfinal match but rebounded to go 4-2 on the weekend.

Chase Lovercheck placed fifth to cap off his high school career as a four-time state placer. In the upper weights, Tate Carson went 4-2 and ended the year with a win in the fifth-place match. Brady Tosh and Brian Baker both made it to the fifth-place match but suffered a loss at the end of the weekend.
