WORLAND – The Wyoming State Homemakers annual meeting was held in Worland June 16-18 with 63 members in attendance. Several husbands accompanied their wives, plus adult daughters and two young grandchildren.
Four generations of one family from Douglas, Pine Bluffs and a number of visitors from the area and Montana attended.
Goshen County delegates were Donna Peterson, former Goshen County president, now treasurer, and Betty Allen, Goshen County Creative Arts chairman.
Peterson served as state president of Homemakers in 2014-2015, having been vice president in 2012-2013. She was honored to join the Quealy Homemakers Club in 2005 at the Casper state meeting with her family in attendance. She had served or held office in Extension before Wyoming dropped Extension and became a state-sanctioned organization.

Peterson was elected to serve as vice president of the Quealy Homemakers in 2016-2017, and at the June conference, was elected president for the 2018-2019 term following Bonnie Schreibeis, formerly of Torrington.
Torrington’s own Geri Zeimens was chosen to receive the Unsung Hero Award from Goshen County. Zeimens has touched many lives in many ways for many years.
Pattie Norris received this annual award in 2016. She has been a 4-H Leader and volunteered where needed in other areas also.
Fifteen craft items are sent to state – each item having been judged a purple – they were made this year by the members and included watercolor and acrylic paintings, knitted sweater, slippers, earrings, etc. All received ribbons, one a grand champion.
Goshen County Jolly Juniors Homemakers President Madelon Daniels, although absent, was installed to become the new Southeast Regional Director.
Betty Allen was recognized for 56 years of membership.
The next State Homemakers meeting is to be held June 8-10, 2018 in Lusk.
