Stamp of love

Hartville P.O. offering Valentine post marks

Posted

HARTVILLE – Each year, the U.S. Post Office at Hartville serves as an official Valentine cancellation station, a special designation made by the U.S. Postal Service for towns across the country that have a special connection to the holiday through the name of their town.  Loveland, Colo. Valentine, Neb., and Hartville are some of the closest places that produce a special postal cancellation each year for the holiday that
salutes love.

Last year, more than 2,200 pieces of mail received the Hartville Valentine cancellation. This year’s design, entitled “Eclipsing Hearts,” was inspired by the August 2017 solar eclipse.
The Friends of Hartville 2018 Valentine postal cancellation stamp will be available for items mailed from Feb. 7 through Feb. 21 at the Hartville Post Office.
Anyone wishing to receive the special cancellation stamp may bring their Valentine mail to the post office or send their items to: Valentine Station Postmaster, P.O. Box 9998, Hartville, WY  82215.  All mail submitted for cancellation must be pre-stamped with proper postage and fully addressed.
The cancellation will be available, by special request, until March 21.
