St. Joseph’s Children’s Home Receives Grant for Chemical Dependency Program

TORRINGTON – St. Joseph’s Children’s Home announced recently that it has received a $98,650

Daniels Fund grant to support its youth chemical dependency program.

St. Joseph’s Children’s Home is a private psychiatric residential treatment facility; serving youth ages 6-18, that has been in operation since 1930. Originally an orphanage, the facility transitioned into a residential treatment facility and was renamed in 1973.

The Daniels Fund, established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels, is a private charitable foundation dedicated to making life better for the people of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming through its grants program, scholarship program, and ethics initiative.

St. Joseph’s Children’s Home offers a safe environment for children to live, attend school and receive therapy services. The facility has a fully accredited K-12 school located on campus with qualified faculty working with the children. The facility operates 24/7, year-round with many of the services extending beyond the youth admitted for treatment, to the families whenever possible. The goal is to strengthen families as well as children to encourage success in a child’s life.

St. Joseph’s treatment plan encompasses a variety of components including the Chemical Dependency Program.

“This grant from Daniels Fund will enable St. Joseph’s to continue providing the Chemical Dependency component, which serves as a critical element of the treatment program,” said Bob Mayor, Executive Director.
