CHEYENNE – The Goshen County Schools Special Olympics Team competed in the Area III Games in Cheyenne on Friday, May 14. The team competed in the Individual Basketball Skills and Speed Dribbling in the Basketball competition.
Samantha Dulaney earned a gold medal in the Individual Basketball Skills in Level I (10-foot basket) and over-all gold medal in Speed Dribbling Division I. Edward (EJ) Haas earned a gold Medal in the Individual Basketball Skills in Level I (10-foot basket) and over-all silver medal in Speed Dribbling Division I. Ty Haeffelin earned a bronze medal in the Individual Basketball skills in Level I (10-foot basket) and over-all bronze medal in Speed Dribbling Division I. Amelia Winter earned a silver medal in the Basketball Skills in Level I (8-foot basket) and over-all gold medal in Speed Dribbling in Division II. Anneke Kramer earned a silver medal in the Individual Basketball Skills in Level I (10-foot basket) and silver medal in the Speed Dribbling in Division II.
The Goshen County Schools team is coached by Craig Schadwinkel and Sage Fields.
The team’s scores will now go onto the State Summer Games competition which will be held virtually this year due to Covid. The athlete’s Area III Games scores will then be restructured against Special Olympic athletes from across the state of Wyoming and medals will then be awarded for participation the Summer State Games competition.
