DOUGLAS – The Southeast Lady Cyclones finished pool play 2-1 Friday at the Douglas Invitational, before going 1-2 Saturday in bracket play and taking fourth.
Douglas proved to be a tough opponent for the Lady Cyclones to begin the invitational. The Lady Bearcats won the match in two sets, 25-13 and 25-6. After the opening loss, it was all uphill for Southeast on Friday. The team picked up a two-set win over Hot Springs, S.D., 25-15 and 25-16, before a three-set match against Newcastle. Southeast won the first set, 25-13, before the Lady Dogies nabbed the second, 25-17. In the third and final set, the Lady Cyclones closed the door on the match, winning 15-9.
The Lady Cyclones snagged the fifth slot out of 12 teams in the gold bracket based on pool play.
